Wednesday night marked the opening night of Disney On Ice Treasure Trove at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore Maryland. In typical Disney fashion, they pulled out all the stops and we were treated to a virtual who’s who of our Disney favorites. Our show opened with everyone’s favorite cowboy Woody and his space ranger BFF Buzz Lightyear alongside Jessie the yodeling cowgirl.
After a quick trip to infinity and beyond, we were blasted right into the beginning of our story with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy who delighted the crowd as they gave some clues into all the treasures we would see this evening.
As the lights dimmed we found ourselves falling down the rabbit hole with Alice, the White Rabbit, The Mad Hatter and all of your Wonderland friends celebrating the Hatters Un-birthday. The celebration was cut short by an appearance from the Queen of Hearts and her band of Playing Card Soldiers.
The Queen of Hearts wasn’t the only villain we would encounter this evening. That sneaky snook Captain Hook and his bumbling bestie Mr. Smee skated out making their way away from the dreaded Tick Tock Croc. One of the highlights of the night was watching Peter, Wendy, Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys battle the pirates for Neverland. What more could a kid wish for….
Wish? Did somebody say wish? Next up was the fan favorite Genie of the Lamp and his old pal Aladdin trying to woo the heart of Princess Jasmine. There was even a magic carpet ride to show us a whole new world of excitement.
After a short intermission we were transported to the African savanna to see the wise old Rafiki standing on pride rock introducing us to the cub who would be King. Simba, Nala, Timon and Pumba delighted the crowd and defended their kingdom against the sinister Scar and his evil hyena henchmen.
Snow White and all Seven Dwarfs whistled while they worked their way into the hearts of young and old until an evil old hag with a bag of apples tried to spoil everyone’s fun. But never fear, true loves kiss was there to save the day and the show.
Next up was a quick trip under the seas with Ariel and Sebastian and the music of The Little Mermaid which was much to the delight of the entire audience of little princesses.
We would later see all of the Disney princesses and their princes in the grand finally but not until we got to see the glowing lanterns in the sky and hear about the dreams of a long golden locked young lady by the name of Rapunzel. I must admit Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder kind of steal the show.
Before we say goodnight, the Fab 4 make one more appearance to tell us the most valuable treasure they found tonight. You too can find that treasure for yourselves.
Disney on Ice Treasure Trove plays Royal Farms Arena now through Sunday February 7th, 2016.
Tickets are still available via Ticketmaster or the Royal Farms Arena Box Office.
